Gourmand means glutton, therefore gourmandise means gluttony!
Gourmet means "selective" - indeed "knowledgeably selective" not only in food and drink, but in general!

My problem with Escargots is catching them. After all, I'm an old man, and they are just young things. On top of which they don't know if they're male or female, and - just like jelly babies, I prefer the male ones - you get that little bit extra, don't you see....?
