So - everybody has 'gluttoned' their way through almost 10 days of festivities and now we're all lookig for some normality! We can't look a turkey in the face and a lot of people are having weather problems......

so - let's look at some possibilities.
If you're lucky, you should have quite a few 'conserves' in the larder

which you didn't want to use for special meals, maybe some even in the freezer (if it's still working)
http://www.donor-recognition.org/news/frozen-food-that-you-need-to-avoid.html
, maybe some winter vegetables in the cellar if you're fortunate to have one, often called 'Survival Food'
http://www.preparewise.com/blog/category/survival-food-storage/ This is where I would spend all of my time!

But - assuming that we don't all have everything, then to beat the blues, keep it simple! Soups & vegetables, conserves (both fish and meat - even the well known 'spam' can be good) - Spam in batter, spam fried in butter...spam hash......etc....

Soups keep you warm without over filling you, witness the onion soup from the French....vegetables, both purée and whole, conserved with a little thickening (as the Germans love - 'Erbsensuppe' - with or without tinned sausage, or ham, even potatoes)

simple - straightforward, lentils - and, where we started - Baked beans on toast....!

Fruit and cheese obviously are available, and even coffee is acceptable!
So - the next big do is Easter, start thinking about your menus and get the weight down to appreciate all the things to come......
Bonne Appétit
